Tis a Great Day for the Irish! Happy St. Pats from Thumbuddy Special!

Top of the Morning! Happy St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

The Carlucci Night Happy Hour was a sensational evening. Our friends at Carlucci continue to amaze us with their generous hospitality. The food was fabulous and the drinks flowed! We are ever so grateful for their continuous support of our mission. Brady, Dylan and Colin were there picking the winners of the raffles and their mom’s Tina and Shelly thanked the crowd for their generosity. We had several stories of passing it forward in the room. Thank you to all the silent auction donors and all who attended the great night. Attached is a picture of the Boys.

This last week was a busy one! TS purchased the 2 vans for Yalina and Gilbert. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with our friend, Richie Ruscitti at South Chicago Dodge in Chicago. These 2 beautiful full size vans will allow these 2 families the freedom to get out in about! That is a direct result of your generous hearts. Thank you!! Attached is a picture of Wanika, Yalina’s mom with Richie and myself.

As you may or may not know, this is a big weekend for us in the Connelly household. Today, I have to worry about my 3 youngest kids down at the parade…I worry because spent many a day down at the parade. The table has turned! Now whether you are Irish or not, Irish Soda Bread is a staple this time of the year. I have made 12 loaves and counting this week alone. Here is the recipe that I received from a co-worker many years ago….it is very easy and delicious!

2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
2/3 cup of sugar
2 eggs…beaten first
2 cups of Buttermilk

Add:
½ teas baking soda
½ teas salt
3 teas baking powder
3 cups of flour
(save a little flour to dust raisins)
½ box of Golden Raisins.

Mix with a wooden spoon…

Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour and 20 minutes

John and I are not only celebrating St Patrick’s Day, we are giving thanks for 25 years together this Tuesday. I don’t think Thumbuddy Special would be in business without the man behind the lady. He is the runner, the schlepper, the mailman, the “don’t worry about it” guy behind the worrier, and the guy who has to put up with me!

I truly am one lucky Irish Lady!

God Bless,
Mary Ellen
