Thumbuddy Special is SPRINGING into Action!

Spring Happy Hour…
It seems so long ago, and yet our Spring is in the Air Fundraiser was only 6 weeks ago. The world as we knew it, was in full swing. There were many magical moments of pure joyous giving at this event. Smiles were everywhere!
Lilia and her dad Brad, received a grant to begin a new chapter in an adapted bike program for children with special needs.

Our two moms, Adriana and Alicia, were granted funds to begin a Family Support Group in the Berwyn area.
WWSRA received $11,000 for their programs in memory of Mallory Fritz, niece of Rich Shepard.
Ethan was granted funds for a new adapted sports wheelchair.
As we travel through this very difficult time in the history of our world, Thumbuddy Special is well aware of the struggles that our families are facing. Many work in the service or entertainment industry and are out of work during this pandemic. Many are trying to survive on very limited resources, where they are making choices between food and rent. We are cognizant that all of us are struggling through social distancing, missing our loved ones, missing hugs and family gatherings. This has affected everyone, worldwide. Anxiety is high, worries are great and fear of the unknown is paralyzing.

We choose LOVE over FEAR…we choose to HELP our neighbor in need…we choose our LORD to guide our decisions.

Thumbuddy Special has been helping families in need throughout our history. We spend an average of $15,000 a year assisting families with paying overdue electric bills, burial costs, rent, supplying groceries, clothes, toys and sometimes money just for a family to breathe a little easier. We have chosen over the years to keep this “under wraps”, so to speak, as many don’t want others to know that they needed a little boost.

These times call for ACTION! We all feel paralyzed, not knowing how to help. With funds from our Adapted Bike Program and the Summer Camp Program (which will not be in session this summer), Thumbuddy Special is initiating a Thumbuddy Special Cares Fund. We are reaching out to you for prayers, resources and understanding. Let me know if you have a family member or friend who is struggling, we will help.

Our goal is to assist 25-35 families in dire need, helping them get through this next month or so. We would also like to award grants of $500-$1,000 to give these families a boost. We believe it is the right thing to do! We have prayed on this and feel that this is how we will respond, with KINDNESS, with COMPASSION and with the GRACE of God leading us forward. We believe LOVE WINS!
