Mom’s Day Out! What a day to remember!

Friends of Thumbuddy Special:

Thumbuddy Special hosted its 5th Annual Moms Day Out Event. This year, moms of children with physical disabilities were treated to a day of pampering, shopping and dinner. We would like to thank Cheryl Sikora, Des, Jackie, Candice, Lisa McDaniel and Karen Coletta, the owner of Salon Divino for opening up her shop on Sunday. These ladies all volunteered their time to pamper our special moms. The moms all looked beautiful and felt beautiful when our “team” of stylists were through. The moms were then treated to shopping at Yorktown, where the only rule was; they had to buy everything for themselves.
For the 5th year running, our friends at Carlucci Restaurant in Downers Grove so graciously hosted a fabulous dinner for our Special Moms. As usual, the food was outstanding, the service was extraordinary and the atmosphere was perfect. The Moms had such a wonderful time, sharing their stories, crying, laughing and being entertained by Dan the Magician. The moms were all given a “pamper me” basket to take home. The teachers of Berwyn North, Berwyn South, Forest Park and Cicero School Districts were all instrumental in donating items for these special baskets.

We are proud of our Moms Day Out Event. We recognize your assistance with making these moms feel like Queen for a Day!

Here are just a couple of the thank you notes that we received….

Thank you so much for the great day that I have experienced today. I had a lot of fun. Everybody made us feel special today at the salon, not to mention being picked up in the Limo, it was so exciting. And then the money they gave us to spend at the mall. Carlucci’s was the last stop and all the moms got to know each other a little better. This is going to be a day to remember for the rest of our lives.

With Love and Gratitude,
Carolina

I have never had anyone take the time out to say, “Take a break – you deserve it.” My life has been non-stop since my daughter was diagnosed with congenital muscular dystrophy at the age of 3. This special day I will never forget!! And it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time for me. I just had knee surgery and my one year old son just got released from the hospital after one week. Thank you and God Bless everyone who was involved in the making of this day so extremely special for us special moms!

Thank you,
Wanika

I don’t know where to start but this day is a day I’ll never forget. And when times get hard and I think that there is nobody that cares, I will remember Thumbuddy Special because that is how you make me feel today. I have a 9 year old son, Doninick who has muscular dystrophy. To just get a chance to have time away with other moms who feel as I do, is the one thing that moms need. You know that moms always sacrifice. So for a group as yours to put out the time and money so that we can feel wonderful with our new things, and to be pampered, that is an outstanding thing.

If I could have a word to say thank you, it would be a heart with a circle, because mine and your love for those beautiful children will never break nor ever stop.

Love Always
Rosie
